The set list has been posted on facebook, as it is every week; here’s who I think is singing what:
NOW
Bad Romance - Colton (confirmed)
I Believe - Joshua (why…)
Born this Way - Skylar
Rolling In the Deep - Phillip
No One - Jessica
Fallin - Hollie
U Got It Bad - Elise
Really hopping that Hollie that Hollie is the one actually singing the Fantasia song, but probably not. I can hear Phillip doing something like Linkin’ Park’s version of RITD, and Skylar doing Gaga’s country remix of BTW. And I’m sticking with my suggestions/predictions from last night for U Got It Bad.
Ugh way too much Alicia Keys though.
THEN
A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke – Colton
Son of a Preacher Man - Jessica (or any of the girls really…)
September - ….Deandre?
Let’s Get It On - Phillip
Heard it Through the Grapevine - Elise
In the Midnight Hour - ???
Try A Little Tenderness - Joshua (or maybe Elise?)
Hmm, these are tougher to guess. Aaand they’re really boring/overdone. I was REALLY hoping we wouldn’t have to hear Let’s Get It On or A Change Is Gonna Come, meh.
And everytime I get a song suggestion/prediction correct that person goes home. Oop.
This weeks theme on American Idol is Now & Then; the contestants will choose one Billboard #1 from the year 2000 and beyond, and one soul classic prior to that. I hope this weeks show is as good as last weeks!

Amazed by Lonestar
Great episode last night…at least by s11 standards; probably just good compared to anything pre-s9. I am glad that all the naysayers who think current songs are always trainwrecks were proved wrong; if you’re creative with your song choice and don’t try to get up there and do OMG you’ll be fine.
1. Joshua Ledet - Runaway Baby
This guy is solid every single week and deserves all of the praise he gets from the judges. He has a big voice AND he knows how to perform; girls, take notice.
2. Jessica Sanchez - Stuttering
I wish she had chosen something upbeat; there were SO many great options for her to show what a little pop star she is. This song was kind of boring but her vocals were flawless, so I’m ranking her high.
3. Colton Dixon - Love the Way You Lie
This was his best performance yet; like Steven said, the vocals were good enough to go on record, and his voice sounded less whiney than usual. Good song choice too.
4. Phillip Phillips - Give a Little More
This is the first time I’ve liked Phillip since he did “In the Air Tonight”…and of course this is the one time the judges decide to actually criticize him. Not to say that J.Lo was wrong; he does pretty much the same thing every week but at least he was kinda different this time. I think his arrangement of this song sounds even better than the original; the orginal is annoying.
5. Skylar Laine - Didn’t Know How Much I Loved You
Pretty solid performance; I think she should’ve listened to Jimmy and left the guitar behind because it didn’t add anything to the performance.
6. Elise Testone - Yoü and I
Good song choice, I kinda liked the cool, jam session vibe of the performance, but there were some rough spots and I thought her phrasing was too short in places where it should’ve been longer. Ok performance overall.
7. Hollie Cavanagh - Perfect
Hmmm. Ok she’s ranked last, but I don’t think she was bad; it was decent, but everyone was solid tonight. I actually think the judges were to hard on her, but at the same time, she needs the criticism because she’s out of her league at this point.
DUETS
Colton Dixon & Skylar Laine - Don’t You Wanna Stay
I don’t know why the judges were hating on this, I thought it was pretty good. I was surprised at how good Colton’s voice sounded on the track. They need to stop trying to make all these fake rumors happen though.
Elise Testone & Phillip Phillips - Somebody That I Used to Know
I thought this was pretty awful. A big part of the reason why is because the band sucked; you could barely hear any of the electronic nuances that make this song great.
Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez & Joshua Ledet - Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)
And this was pretty much abysmal, which is a shame since these are the three “power” singers of the group. Jessica was ALL kinds of off key when she started her part. Honestly, trios just don’t work!
ELIMINATIONS
Bottom 3: Hollie, Elise, Skylar
Eliminated: Hollie
….and she’ll probably be saved, which would be a waste of a save and I’m going to have a huge problem with it, because you know someone good will get caught up in the double elimination next week. Judges/producers, please make like Spike Lee and do the right thing.
A much needed current theme on American Idol this season, after weeks of outdated music and fans practically begging the producers on twitter for something fresh. The good thing about current music on Idol is it’s either really good or amazingly bad.
Jessica

Joshua
Closer - Neyo
Without You - Usher
Prediction: Bruno Mars or Ceelo

Hollie
Skyscraper - Demi Lovato
Prediction: Skyscraper - Demi Lovato
Skylar
I Need You Now - Lady Antabellum
Prediction: Undo It - Carrie Underwood
Spoilerish…
Rumor has it that Elise is singing You and I (good choice) and that Joshua is singing Rihanna. Nigel says they’re doing two Kelly Clarkson songs and “the Goyte song” (Elise and Colton??). Hopefully at least one of those Kelly songs is a duet; I would prefer not to hear any of her more recent songs honestly. And I wonder what will be better, the Glee version, the AI version or Lindsey Pavao’s version of Somebody I Used to Know? My money’s on the latter.
Last minute song suggestions for American Idol this week!

Top 13 theme was Whitney Houston/Stevie Wonder…aka the most oversung artist on AI, and the 3rd most oversung artist on AI. K.
1. Joshua “I Wish” — He surprised me and he’s one of my favorites. Who knew he could perform like that?
2. Jessica “I Will Always Love You” — Doing Whitney run for run, note for note only showed that she lacks Whitney levels of power, but at least her control is improving.
3. Hollie “All the Man that I Need” — One of my fave Whitney songs, and Hollie has the pipes for this, but she didn’t really bring anything special to the song. Good from a tech standpoint though.
4. Colton — Those flat notes were REALLY obvious, like Daughtry’s Walk the Line level of obvious, but he did much better than I expected him to do with this theme.
5. Erika — She has such a good voice, so much control/restraint, and shes the most comfortable on stage….still I feel like she could be more memorable.
6. Phillip — Meh, why were the judges surprised at his arrangement of the song, wasn’t this one of his audition songs? It was aight.
7. Heejun “All In Love is Fair” — He has such a nice voice, I love the tone of his voice; the problem is his performances are boring. He picked one of the better songs for his voice.
8. Deandre “Master Blaster” — Pretty good! Much better than his Earth, Wind & Fire performance last week. He sounds so much better in his chest voice. I hope he stays, honestly, because he has room to grow.
9. Jermaine “Knocks Me off My Feet” — Decent.
10. Elise — Ouch. This girl is really good, but this performance was rough. I blame the song choice, but then again this theme kinda just works against her.
11. Jeremy “Ribbon in the Sky” — Nice kid but he’s like a S1 contestant. He has a good tone but not enough substance to his voice.
12. Skylar “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” — Well she at least tried to make the song her own, the 2nd half was an improvement but the first half was a trainwreck.
13. Shannon “I Have Nothing” — This was pretty painful all the way through, pitch issues and control issues. I always thought she’d be the first to go, but I wouldn’t be surprised if her fans voted harder to keep her in and someone like Elise ended up in the bottom 2.
I agree with Jennifer that the girls were stronger tonight. I mean, the worst performances came from girls too, but their song set was much more challenging. It wasn’t terrible overall, but it wasn’t particularly good either. I give it a C.
This twist of putting a guy and a girl in the bottom and letting the judges choose is obviously to keep 5 girls from going back to back, but isn’t that the point of the save though? There’s no point in them having both. What will probably happen is a guy will rank 7th or 8th in the voting and still go home, or a popular guy will end up in the bottom 2 and their plan will backfire. J.Lo will probably fight to save Jeremy, get overruled by the two male judges and sob while he sings out.
guilty XD
Probably because carrot has an even number of letters and a double letter in the middle?
I said pineapple to be honest
